We are now in week #2 of my new blogging plan, where I publish four posts a week. I decided to try this out because I knew I didn’t want to force myself to blog every day anymore (after all, been there, done that). On the other hand, some kind of structure seems to serve me, rather than leaving it up to chance.
Last week I made two posts about “A Random Walk Down Wall Street,” an investing book I just re-read. I spent a great deal of time on these two posts. I believe I mapped out the initial ideas for both of them them on Tuesday. I published the first on Thursday, the second on Sunday. So I worked on the first post over three days, the second post over a span of six.
This is a long time for me to work on blog posts! There was a moment, in the middle of it, when I got a little concerned that I was over-thinking it, and then I forced myself to press on to get the posts done. Having accomplished that, I am quite pleased that I gave myself the extra time to flesh out my ideas!
It is nice to have a structure of regular posting, while allowing me options about when to post. This is the first time since I started the 365 Day Blogging project last August where the daily posts are not all primarily done that day. That way worked while I was doing the daily posting because it prevented me from over-thinking what I was doing.
Now I’m finding it’s also nice to allow me some time to think, to edit my ideas, and to refine. But not too much time… I need to make sure to keep the ball rolling!
So far, so good. It just goes to show how perfectly things evolve… when you let them.
