Oh shit man. I’ve been sucked down the Internet Vortex!
It happens to most people now and then. You start looking, then next thing you know, you have clicked on one site, then another, followed a trail, and then next thing you know, 3 hours have gone by! You are left with a slightly dazed feeling, as if having woken up from being slightly intoxicated…
This happened to me tonight as I was researching online savings accounts. I know, sexy topic, yeah? Online savings accounts typically give a better savings rate than the brick-and-mortar bank accounts (often ten times as much… or more). We’ve had online savings accounts for several years now. Recently I have been fantasizing about us earning even more from our savings while we grow it. This seems to be the source behind tonight’s adventure in Internet Land.
It feels like a minor vice, being a personal finance junkie. Okay, so I feel a little self-conscious saying this. But as I have said before, personal finance stuff is exciting to me! I will own it. (I always say, you can’t go wrong reaching for satisfaction, whatever that is!)
Here is an interesting article I found tonight from CashCowCouple on setting up your online savings empire, maximizing the interest you earn. I first encountered these guys several years ago. The system they describe in this article involves a lot of detailed planning and coordinating. This may or may not be for you. Yet I have always found CashCow Couple’s information well-researched, thorough, and honest. Personally, I’m going to give the 5% savings account thing a try. I read their article on this several years ago, but wasn’t ready to go for it. Tonight I’m a go. Also, I’m gonna try out the Discover Cashback Debit card for point-of-sale purchases where I don’t use our rewards card.
That’s it for tonight’s “drunken” post-internet rabbit-hole binge confession…
