As I have mentioned a few times recently (here and here), one of the cool things about doing daily blogging again is re-reading older posts. Today I am thinking in particular about my first 365 Day Blogging Project. That was an amazing experience! I recall the satisfaction of coming up with blogging ideas, the sense of accomplishment of sticking to my daily blog regimen. Knowing I had a post to write each day was like having an ongoing writing gig, a purpose for forming my thoughts and sharing them. It was also a great time for me personally: during this time I discovered Intermittent Fasting, explored comedy, read cool books, ran some races, blissed out about investing topics, and enjoyed writing at the cafe. Naturally I wrote about these activities I enjoyed, so these topics became a staple of the blog.
Looking back on those first 365 days, I am reminded of how rewarding it is to do something for one’s self. This blog has been a gift to myself like no other!* It is truly the gift that keeps on giving!
Lastly, I thought I would share a poem I wrote from that year. This poem reflects on the blog-writing process:
“Showing Up for Work”
Each day as if I come to work
I aim to please, not be a jerk
I aim to learn and serve the world
And find within each day a pearl!
A chance to lay some wisdom there
I stand exposed, my soul is bare
My heart is open, mind is blank
And gingerly I walk the plank
And leap into the great abyss
And feel the good that comes from this
And take each moment, none to miss
This may be work, but work is bliss!!
Day 69: Showing Up For Work
*Although I will say that treating myself to a marathon, or two, or ten is also a pretty fantastic gift!
