Day 58: Living with Joy (Part 2)

Hello, hello, hello! Today’s topic is a continuation of yesterday.  It is about living with joy… part 2, if you will 😉 Joy is sometimes misunderstood in this world.  People sometimes think that people are doing awful things in the name of joy.  For example, if someone does something violent to another and then laughs about it, they are feeling joyful, are they not?  It would appear so. Yet you don’t really know what is going on their world to create that reaction that looks like joy to you.  Compared…

Day 57: Living with Joy

Hello and welcome to today’s blog post.  It is so nice to be writing to you.  It is a great to be using this channel to communicate these words.  I hope they inspire you and brighten your day. Today’s topic is about living with joy.  Many people can relate with the idea of living a life well-lived.  But what is a well-lived life if not a joyful life? Living a life of joy will automatically mean you are living a well-lived life! So many people spend so much time thinking…

Day 56: Don’t Let the A$$holes Stop You

A couple of months ago I read a book called “The Asshole Survival Guide” by Robert I. Sutton.  This book brings up a topic that everyone deals with but not a lot of people talk about: having to deal with assholes.  Sutton has written a lot about dealing with jerks in corporate situations.  In fact he wrote a prior book about dealing with assholes (or “bossholes”) in the workplace. “The Asshole Survival Guide” is more geared to everyone, a direct response, as he explains in his introduction, of receiving so…

Day 55: Morning Glow and the Sweet Timelessness of Nature

I often go jogging on weekend mornings with my good friend Dave.  A couple of Sunday mornings ago, I was at William Pond Park, a few miles away from where I live and along the American River (and as it happens, the starting point for the American Parkway Half Marathon, which I have completed two times).  As I was waiting for Dave to arrive, I noticed the morning light on the grass and through the trees.  Inspired by this (and also by the fact that I’m taking a class where…

Day 54: Oh No! Phone Shut Down! Or How I Became a Student of H2O

Recently I have been practicing letting go of needing to control things.  Somehow, I’ve come to terms with the surprising (haha) fact that I cannot control much in life, at least in terms of what happens outside of myself.  Again and again, life has a way of working out in strange or unexpected ways.  More and more, these days I’m able to detach and “let it be,” to quote Sir Paul. For instance, just this morning, my phone mysteriously shut off.  I have owned a cell phone for many years…

Day 53: More of Ye Original “Shakespearian” Poetry

Tonight I am going to share some more “Shakespearian” poetry I wrote awhile ago (I also shared some a few weeks ago).  These verses are in iambic pentameter, Shakespeare’s verse structure of choice: “The Mother” (4/27/14) She lets her children trod upon her breast The little tykes disturbing where she lies Each one to her is such a welcome guest She does not make them stop despite her sighs. Her unconditional affection rests Despite their constant need for her attention Despite their ceaseless bothersome requests There is no need for…

Day 52: Reaching for Satisfaction

(This post is inspired by a recording I heard recently from Abraham-Hicks, where they suggested that we ask ourselves continually, “Is this satisfying?”) Hello, Friends!  It is so nice to be writing to you today! Today I wish to talk to you about satisfaction.  Satisfaction is a very important concept!  It can be the basis for your very existence.  If you ask yourself continually, “Is this satisfying?” in everything you do, or “what satisfies me?” you will get an accurate indicator of whether you are on track or off track…

Day 51: The Power of Inspired Action

A few months ago, my wife and I embarked upon a mission to organize our home.  In fact, we hired professional organizer and friend of ours Grace Bermudes, to help us.  The moment we made the appointment with the her, my wife got into action, and I in turn followed suit.  The amount of progress we made even before Grace arrived was phenomenal:  we got boxes worth of stuff cleared, we bought multiple shelves for additional storage in the kitchen, I cleared out the backroom and made way for more…

Day 50: How to Lighten Up

Hello there!  It is so nice to speak with you!  I am so glad to be here. Today, let’s talk about lightness.  Lightness is a state of being light, being open, and not carrying excess baggage or strange, heavy thoughts that weigh you down. People deserve to be light and happy, to be fully in the present and be available to experience all wonderful things that life has to offer.  This is hard to do when you are burdened with negative thoughts: thoughts of fear, thoughts of judgment, thoughts of…

Day 49: What is it about the Laundromat? :)

It’s a funny thing about going to the laundromat. I don’t mind it. For several years now, each Friday I have walked our freshly washed clothes (in a hamper, on a dolly) over to the neighborhood laundromat a few blocks away.  You see, Friday we have a weekly housecleaning ritual.  Part of the ritual involves doing laundry.  We  have a washer, but for the past few years, we have not had a dryer (mostly by choice: the old dryer stopped working, and we released it, and so far haven’t replaced…
