Writing yesterday’s post about Chernow’s “The House of Morgan” reminded me of one thing I love about this blog: articulating and crafting my thoughts so that, if possible, my thinking is clear and my writing is high-quality. Here are some of my favorite posts from the past year that I especially enjoyed crafting:
Favorite Finely-Crafted Posts of 365 Day Blogging Project #2:
- Day 277: The Silver-Lining of Short-Term Pain, from May 2, 2023. What I liked about writing this: I enjoyed working with a lot of data and fleshing out my raw thoughts to create what I think is a coherent and interesting post. It was kind of like teaching about the stock market.
- Day 269: The Slow-and-Steady Machine Works Its Magic, from April 28, 2023. What I liked about writing this: I loved the simple honesty of my preference for keeping things mellow. I also enjoyed putting in links to previous posts that demonstrate how I’m practicing slow-and-steady in my life. Whether or not anyone else reads this, in posts like this I feel like I’m taking on an almost academic-type care in presenting my thoughts. I find this satisfying.
- Day 193: Fifteen Years of Running, from February 7, 2023. What I liked about writing this: Again, I loved synthesizing my thoughts on my eras of running. Good self-analysis is always satisfying for me. I also enjoyed celebrating my running journey. Linking to previous relevant blog posts is always fun, as well.
- Day 159: 2022 Investing Mash Up, from December 12, 2022 What I liked about writing this: Again, I loved working with data, creating a table, and explaining my investing thoughts. As usual, I find it helpful to articulate what I’m thinking. This particular post also helped me keep my head on straight about investing.
- Day 90: 1100 Miles and Counting, from September 30, 2022. What I liked about writing this: As with the “Fifteen Years of Running” post, this was a chance to synthesis my running efforts, in this case with a table of my monthly running all year long to that point.
- Day 28: Improving My Marathon/Life Balance, July 30, 2022. What I liked about writing this: I gave an extensive amount of time editing and honing my thoughts for this post. As usual, I loved creating a table, this one comparing my Galloway marathon training schedule with the previous Fall’s Fleet Feet marathon training.
- Day 14: Walk-Running My Way to Marathon #3, from July 16, 2022. What I liked about writing this: As with the other above posts, I enjoyed synthesizing and editing my thoughts down to what I felt was a clear and articulate post. I enjoyed stating why I was doing the Galloway marathon training program, and what I hoped to get from it. Note: while I didn’t end up running CIM as planned last December, because of the Galloway program I did run 26-miles… two times (and wrote about it here and here). And I walk-ran both of them!
