Tonight I thought I might just dig among a few of my past blog posts for some quotables. There’s no theme to these quotes, though they follow similar lines to things I still write about all the time on this blog. Incidentally, all quotes are from 2020 (because I happened to be browsing my 2020 posts on the post index page):
From “Carving Out My Corner of the World,” 11/20/20:
One thing I love about this blog is that it is my turf. I get to set the rules, I get to choose the subjects, I get to go on about whatever I want to go on about. It’s inherently satisfying, because, to put it perhaps inelegantly, it’s all about me.
What I like about this: It sorta speaks for itself. I have always run my blog as my personal sandbox of self-expression. Like a kid playing with toys, I get to build my own empires with words.
From “Why Not Be As the Sun?” 10/9/20:
Why not be as the Sun, and shine brightly and generously, with no thought of how “they” return the favor? Because when you emanate that much power, you really don’t need anything from others to be ok, do you?
What I like about this: I have held this idea in mind for several years now, and I love it. It empowers me because it reminds me that when I am aligned, when I am tuned in, I don’t need others to change. I’m not worrying about them. Instead, I am generous and happy just as I am… like the sun!
From “The Power of Your Thoughts,” 4/17/20:
I don’t think there is (yet) widespread recognition of the power of our thoughts. Yet every single person is living proof of the power of thoughts, because their life experience correlates exactly on some level with those thoughts.
If people only knew the power they have to shape their life through conscious focus, what wonderful lives everyone could have!
What I like about this: Obviously, I am big fan of the Law of Attraction. In some ways, this blog could be considered a Law of Attraction-themed blog. At its essence, the Law of Attraction reminds me of the power of our thoughts to create our lives.
From “Good Habits Rock,” 4/13/20:
Whether you are learning to play piano, investing, running, reading a big book, or even eating the jelly beans out of the jelly bean jar a few at a time, it is amazing how much one can accomplish, even at a leisurely pace, if you just keep it up long enough. If you hang in there, persist, and keep working at it… well… even water can find its way through granite with enough drips!
What I like about this: I still am a big believer in slow-and-steady wins the race! I know it’s not for everybody, but I seem to be good at the regular and consistent drip that eventually wears down granite. I love the principle behind this, which is consistent effort doesn’t have to be hard. You just have to keep it up steadily, and it builds into a powerful force over time.
Simply put, elegant original axioms for how to express yourself by writing. Very engaging.
