Well, I’m starting my blog post and I don’t have a specific idea of where I’m going. But I do have a positive thought as I write. I am in a high-flying space, having just gotten off the phone with my good friend Rick. I always enjoy our chats.
Why do I enjoy my chats with Rick? I enjoy them because we get to talk about things I’m interested in. He’s interested in the kinds of things I write about on this blog: creativity, music, spirituality, personal growth, investing, physical exercise. We always have a lot to talk about.
Also, the truth is, I trust Rick. I trust him to be open and honest and also to be appreciative and supportive. I trust that our talks will go well. I trust that there is a basis of commonality, as I said, that helps makes the calls fun.
I’m thinking about this because I want so much to master doing only the things that are a Hell Yes. This includes who I have conversations with! In this big vast world, there are so many different options, so many different people to talk to. Why should anyone ever settle for talking to people they don’t enjoy talking to?
It’s not for me to judge anyone else, but I know for myself, I’m interested in having good times, great conversations, and doing things that satisfy me. I know now that it is the positive experience I am after. It is the alignment. As I said to Rick, I’m in it for the pizza! Because there’s a nice pizza on the table right there in front of us (or a burrito, or a casserole, or an apple pie, or whatever sounds yummy to you!), and it is right there for us to enjoy. But we have to be willing to reach out for that thing that appeals to us. We have to be willing to feel good.
The food metaphor represents anything we want. There are almost always ways to feel better or enjoy ourselves in this present moment. All it takes is being open. When we start to populate our life with fun things, good experiences, good times with fun people, we thrive. We live what we came here to do, which is to enjoy ourselves.
So live and be merry!
