Create Your Own Weather

(Disclaimer: This post was an early draft of what I was planning to publish four days ago. However, I had an issue with the site, and it has been down for several days. Thankfully, we are back on line. I decided to leave this post as it is) One of the central concepts that I am appreciating lately from Abraham-Hicks’ teaching is the idea that I take charge of creating my own experience. I like to think of it of creating my own weather 🙂 I have gone to town…

A Wonderful Year?

Well, here we are. The end of 2020 is upon us. Somehow, we made it. I had no doubt we would 🙂 And yet, it feels like a milestone. 2020: the year that all of civilization went through the dryer on spin cycle. Personally, I had a fine year. I blogged. I jogged. I day-dreamed. I wrote. I taught piano. I hung out with my wife. I wrote music. I think after this nine-month experiment in isolation, it’s safe to say that I do just fine under such conditions. Perhaps…

Thank God for the Artist (original poem)

Ok, let me collect my thoughts, I’ll connect the dots, bang on these expressive pots Bang! Clang! Causing poetical noise Throwing these words together, I’m playing with toys Let’s see what happens if I use this moment What creativity can I foment? What trouble can I cause with these lines? Exercising freedom of mind, randomly waving signs Randomly riding waves, the expression that saves, This is why the Neanderthal left the caves The allure of expression that is always here What do I see? Let me tell you, dear How…

A Tale of Two Stock Picks

Interesting story: First of all, let’s establish that to date, my wife and I are not “stock pickers.” We have focused on index funds. However, a few years ago, my wife started a Robinhood account (Robinhood is a popular investing app). This was around the beginning of 2018. Incidentally, this was right when we learned about Moviepass, the movie-going subscription program which upset the industry by offering dramatically cheap monthly passes that practically gave people free movie tickets. Moviepass’s moment proved to be short-lived. However, at the time we were…

It is All Unfolding Perfectly

This morning, as I was taking a nice forty-five minute jog, I had a really good feeling. I wasn’t concerned about what the feeling meant. I wasn’t concerned about what action to take to “make use of it” or something. It just felt good, and I was content to enjoy it. In fact, I have been feeling this inspiration for awhile now, over a week, to be specific. A sense of well-being, of excitement even. I haven’t had a clear plan yet of what to do about it, but there’s…

Serving Its Purpose Beautifully

I’m enjoying the latest stint of daily blogging, which started back in October. It’s been relatively painless from a work point of view. As usual, it’s satisfying to leave a “trail” of my thoughts. Since my first post back on April 3, 2016, I have published six-hundred and fourteen posts (including this one, it will be six-hundred and fifteen)! It’s satisfying to have accumulated such a high number so effortlessly, using my slow and steady approach. Kind of like my journals, my blog posts keep piling up! Of course, the…

The Writing Fool Keeps At It

I haven’t gone to the cafe for about a month. But that hasn’t stopped me from writing! Of course, this has been true for years now. This year alone I’ve filled many journals (as well as many blog post, of course) with my thoughts. The picture above is just the journals I’ve finished since the Summer. I’ve probably averaged about one journal per three or four weeks. The journal writing helps me focus. It’s nice to write in an actual physical journal. There are no emails to read, no updates…

Clear as Daylight

In the past week or so, for the first time in several years, I’ve actually looked at joining someone else’s coaching program (and I did it by clicking on YouTube ad, of all things). I have been completely uninterested in joining any kind of coaching program for several years, preferring to go it alone, read books, and generally do the kinds of “personal well-being” activities I write about on this blog. Though I decided not to pursue this particular opportunity right now, it’s a big deal to me that I…

Populate Your World with What You Want

Reading excerpt for tonight: Why does Saying No to It Mean Saying Yes To It? Your vibrational Universe has the Law of Attraction as its basis. That means that your Universe is about inclusion. When you give your attention to something that you desire and you say yes to it, you are including it in your vibration. But when you look at something you do not want and you say no to it, you are including it in your vibration. When you give no attention to it, you do not…

Small Pleasures but Still Appreciated

A few nights ago I mentioned the Christmas decorations in East Sacramento. We were just passing through the neighborhood then, but tonight we made it official, my wife spending a good forty-five minutes cruising slowly through the heavily-decked out Christmas decoration extravaganza that begins at approximately 40th Ave in East Sacramento. This was a good way to “get into the spirit” of the season, yet there were also several benefits unique to our stranger-than-fiction 2020 Pandemic world: It’s quite a thing to see people IN PERSON. Last night we had…
