I decided to write a rhyming-intensive examination of various “darker” emotions, from pessimism to guilt. Actually, I enjoyed writing it!
So many deep, dark emotions,
Like scary potions that make people go "shit!"
Hoping they don't get soaked in
Those fits, oceans of
broken notions from those feeling those dark emotions
Pessimism feels like less of wisdom,
it's expressing a schism between myself and
my best intuition, it's obsessed with prison,
supressed ambition, thinking a depressed opinion,
It's best to envision something better coming into fruition!
Frustration, such impatience,
gyrations of dumb irritation,
undulations of aggravation
It doesn't taste good, it's just berating
stuck debating about sucky creations!
Overwhelm, feeling not at the helm,
In a strange realm needing to yell:
"It's too much, help! I can't do it myself!"
It's like the fate of Christmas is on me,
and I'm just a Little Elf!
Disappointment, have some poison ointment,
You're not going to enjoy it. Happiness? It destroys it.
You'll avoid life worrying you'll have an annoyed fit
When it doesn't go your way, just another disappointing day,
After all, "Joy is a myth!" So you will say.
Guilt, making joy wilt,
Is it how we're built?
To suffer to the hilt?
As if we are inferior,
suffering over spilled milk?
Resentment, seething, you don't vent it,
You hold it in and just get pissed,
It's intended to keep you feeling right,
writhing all day and night with pent up fits,
But one day you'll serve your revenge with it!
Anger, a real club banger,
It's where you take hurt and turn it into
hateful words that you spray to hurt,
Like spraying dirt! Maybe you're afraid at first,
But then you get your nerve and display it in a burst.
Complex, not always best
Like the Lochness it's the promise of
something monstrous
But nothing stops us
From constantly getting worked up with
These emotions.
How do they serve us?
When others display them how they unnerve us.
Why are we so nervous to feel how we feel?
What do we do when we need them to heal?
It is real, it is raw,
It happens to ma and pa,
We let them thaw, we sock them away,
But emotions are here to stay!
