I have written about the Law of Attraction many times on this blog. This is not because I am such a whiz at it. On the contrary, I find that writing about concepts I care about (like explaining out loud) really helps me sharpen my understanding.
So here we go. First of all, the system of the Law of Attraction is actually quite simple:
- You think about a subject.
- As long as when you think about it you imagine its presence and not its absence, it will come to you.
For example, right now I am writing a song. Before I really got going, I thought about this song for weeks without actually working on it. I felt a bit disconnected from the process. But I did not worry. I was confident that I would get down to work and that it would happen.
And it is happening!
My thoughts about writing the song even before I started writing: “This is going to go well. I know how to do this, I have done this before. I trust the process.”
My mood about it was: expectant, confident, trusting.
It’s about thinking about what you want in a way that allows it to come to you. I thought about writing the song from a place of confidence that it would come to me. I trusted that the process would work out. And so it is, as has happened over and over for me in this area.
When it comes to attracting what we want, it can be powerful focusing on areas where we already get what we want!
Another example: I played piano recently for a nice group of folks. Beforehand, I expected it to go well. I felt easy-going, and I expected to enjoy bringing the joy of music to others.
My thoughts: “This is going to be fun. I can use this time personally, it’s a nice distraction. This is going to be awesome.”
My mood: confident, easy-going, enthused.
Surprise surprise: the show went great!
The Law of Attraction brings you what you expect. The key is to not simply say things you wish you believed, while not actually believing them. Our words don’t mean much. It’s our vibration that counts. If this seems too simplistic, try it out in your own life.
I expected to be able to write the song, and so I am doing it! It is happening. I expected many other things in my musical journey, and got them. Sometimes I got things I did not want. Could this be because what I was saying I wanted and what I actually believed did not match?
Nowadays, I always try to focus on topics where I have positive expectation working for me. I don’t try to force something that feels bad to feel good.
Attracting what you want could be boiled down to this statement:
Focus relentlessly on areas of your life where you already feel good. This will help all other areas naturally become more aligned.
