Appreciations are so much fun. First of all, they help me get in a good mood. No, scratch that. When I’m doing them, typically I’m already in a fairly good mood, which they help reinforce.
Here are things I’m Appreciating:
- I’m appreciating that my run went well today: five miles, to McKinley Park, which I went around three times, then back. I used 2:1 run/walk intervals the whole time, which means two minutes of running, one minute of walking.
- Speaking of running, I’m appreciating how well it is going easing back into running. I took about six months off from doing any running. Now I have been taking my time getting back into it, doing fairly easy run/walk intervals such as above. Also, I haven’t tracked a single mile on my phone since February, which has been good for me.
- I’m appreciating how nice it has been writing my blog the last few days. I have been focusing completely on what I like about blogging, rather than worrying about who’s reading it or “how’s the blog doing.” I feel a sense of ease, freedom, and of course appreciation for it.
- I’m appreciating knowing that all that matters is focusing on things that feel good for me, and that I get to “leave everyone else out of the equation,” as Abraham-Hicks suggests. Happiness truly is an inside job!
- I’m appreciating us going out for pizza tonight. Good idea, wifey!
- I’m appreciating gaining bookshelf space in the front room of our flat, aka the piano room.
- I’m appreciating the progress I have been making around a) moving into an aligned, aka “happy” state of mind quite frequently, and b) being kind to myself when I don’t 🙂
- I’m appreciating areas of life where I am really good at feeling good: exercise, investing, creativity, teaching, watching TV with my wife.
- I’m appreciating accepting myself fully, including my highly sensitive nature. For instance, these days, I accept being sensitive to loud sounds that come out of nowhere, like loud music, loud voices, sirens, leaf blowers and motorcycles.
