Here we go!
Things I’m Appreciating
- I’m appreciating my free-form blog. There’s nothing specific I have to write, no goal to meet (except that I do it daily this month, and write something appropriately positive and genuine), and no big scary expectations put on myself. It’s all Love and Understanding, man!
- I’m appreciating leading a simple life on my terms. I got to do what I like, honor my nature, and reach for my alignment.
- I’m appreciating cooking for my wife. Not only does it make her feel loved and happy, we both enjoy a nice meal, and I learn new things about cooking every time!
- I’m appreciating being nicer to myself these days. For instance, recently I have been in my head about some adjustment to my investment portfolio. After going around and around on the subject for months (I kid you not, alas), I haven’t taken action, haven’t made any changes. Does this mean I am fine with the status quo after all? Or does it mean I am just confused? Maybe a bit of both! Also, I remind myself now that I am human and I don’t have to be perfect or perfectly certain. Besides, the current portfolio arrangement is definitely a reasonable choice. I am also more tolerant of the ambiguity.
- I’m appreciating that I’m keeping my running/athletic life low key going into the new year. I don’t have any training plans, though I am thinking of doing some longer weekend runs. Meanwhile, I’m planning to go to yoga tomorrow, and my wife and I are going to resume swimming at our gym (which closed the pool for several months).
- I’m appreciating the adventure of writing the piano-playing book. In truth, it isn’t just a book-writing process. It holds the promise of expanding my teaching, and likely into some kind of online course (which I am also starting to explore). Meanwhile, I have had some great chats with my students about the book. Also, the process of writing it has helped me formulate my teaching ideas more clearly than ever.
- I’m appreciating saying “no.” In the past few weeks, I have contemplated several different opportunities, all of which I said “no” to. The way I look at it, every “no” gets me one step closer to a “Hell yes!”
