Well, here we are, a week away from good ole Day Three-Hundred and Sixty Five! The last time I got there–for my first year of daily blogging–I shared some thoughts on a book I was reading on Ulysses S. Grant and said sionara to the blogging year. I then took a week off… and started up again blogging eight days later. This I continued to the end of the year, which was also the end of the decade (my final post of the 2010s was a post about the fabulous investing decade of the 2010s).
So that was what I did last time. How about this time?
Currently, the plan is to take a break. And no, not start up again eight days later. To be clear, I love blogging and intend to do a lot more of it (!). However, this time I want to make a clean break, at least from this phase. This will open up energy for other things (like the book). Also, it will be nice to reflect on the past year and regroup.
When I think of my 2022-2023 blogging year, I feel appreciative, joyful, and satisfied. There were many great moments. I believe I grew as a writer and as a person. I grew more accepting of myself, and I poked a few more holes into old beliefs of lack or insecurity.
Blogging is like an affirmation of my value. When I blog, I generate happiness.* It is my personal shrine to self-respect and self-expression.
Long may it continue.
*I’m glad to say I feel this way about much of my life these days. Certainly blogging is a nice option, as “happiness generators” go.
