Abraham frequently uses the expression, “You can’t get there from here.”
This refers to the idea that while we are in a low-vibrational state ( fear, anger, frustration, self-judgment, depression), we don’t have vibrational access to things in a high-vibrational state ( love, appreciation, joy, ease, freedom, inspiration). When it comes to what we want, we will attract it when our thinking is consistent with the vibration of it. And not a moment before.
It is so normal to imagine that by thinking about a topic, we are “doing something about it.” But if you feel rotten, you aren’t attracting good. You are attracting rotten. We only attract a “happy solution” when we are in a happy state. After all, what we want resides in a high-flying vibration, whether it’s love, well-being, empowerment, fun, or abundance.
For years I was unaware that my thoughts were going in the opposite direction of what I wanted. This drove me to want to understand this topic. It’s why I’m so passionate about it. I have learned that you can only attract joy from a place of feeling joy. On the other hand, self-pity only attracts more to feel self-pity over. Judging yourself only creates mental confusion, overwhelm, and doubt.
The key is basically to find a way to feel good, then trust the Universe to bring you what you want when you are ready to receive it. If a person wants a great relationship, for example, they ought to get themselves to a place that is already happy as best they can. They will then emanate a happy vibration that will more likely attract the happy relationship they want. All too often, people get it backwards, hoping for someone to come along and make them happy. But you only attract where you are vibrationally. So start there.
If someone wants to be financially prosperous, they ought to focus on appreciation for the prosperity and abundance already in their life. They may, for example, be incredibly creative, with lots of great ideas that come to them easily. Whether or not this currently brings them lots of money, it demonstrates abundance, confidence, and imagination. These are all qualities consistent with prosperity. Maybe they make friends easily. This shows the abundance of their network and their generosity of spirit. By emphasizing what is already abundant in their life, they will attract more of it, including the moola they so desire.
The idea of “you can’t get there from here” is a profound reminder to continually check our own mood or attitude. Let’s seek to be happy first. That way, when we reach out for things we want, we will come from a joyous, inspired place that is more likely to draw it to us.
